The Equal Rights Center (ERC) is a national non-profit civil rights organization based in Washington, D.C. With members located in 40 states and the District of Columbia, the ERC works nationally to proactively promote equal opportunity in housing, employment, disability rights, immigrant rights, and access to public accommodations and government services. The ERC employs a variety of tools in advancing civil rights, including education and outreach, training, counseling and advocacy, research, investigation and testing, and enforcement.

For nearly 30 years, the ERC has been a leader in the design and execution of civil rights testing as a tool to investigate and document discrimination. The ERC is looking for a dynamic and energized professional with a passion for civil rights to be a Project Assistant in its Testing Program. Reporting to the Testing Manager, this position is multifaceted and duties will include:

  • Providing integral support to the ERC's Fair Housing, Fair Employment, Immigrant Rights and Disability Rights Programs in their investigation of individual complaints of discrimination, and in systemic testing for discrimination.
  • Performing complaint intakes.
  • Conducting and coordinating civil rights testing.
  • Compiling information for civil rights reports.
  • Conducting research.
