Play is an integrating activity—it integrates children's cognitive, emotional, social, and physical capacities, and it has the potential to socially integrate neighborhoods and wider communities. We are seeing its potential come to life in play coalitions, neighborhoods, and playful cities across the country. Now we have to make sure that its integrative strength is applied to inclusive play as well.
We are forming a working group on inclusive play. If you are interested in being part of it, let us know. To learn more, contact me at joan.almon@verizon.net.
