Conclusions
Two participants were taking daily doses of riserdal (risperidone), which has been found to have significant weight gain as a limiting side effect. These results show that the treadmill walking program, if implemented for persons with autism taking respiradone, could be beneficial as an exercise intervention in controlling body weight and BMI.
The program also positively impacted the exercise capacity of the participants. The results of this study indicate that for person with autism living in a community residential school treatment facility.
