If you’re uncertain if your child is consuming too much sugar, you can always check the label or teach your child how to check the food label of a given item. Examine “sugar” and it will tell you how many grams of sugar are in 1 serving of that item. Keep in mind many beverages contain more than 1 serving!
If you’re interested in exploring healthier alternatives, try replacing your child’s sugary beverage intake with water. To make it more interesting, try adding lemon, cucumber, or a sugar-free flavor packet to spice things up. If that feels like too much of stretch, try watering down juice or other sugary drinks and transition slowly to water.
