This segment on exercising safely is led by an individual with spina bifida who has been involved in sports and recreation. She provides some perspective on:
- the importance of exercise for youth with SB;
- safety guidelines before beginning an exercise program; and
- considerations such as latex allergies, hydration, skin checks, and body temperature regulation.
These safety reminders will be "popping up" throughout the different exercise sections, to guide participants as they are exercising.
