Foam rolling is the practice of utilizing an elongated, spherical piece of foam to apply pressure to various areas of the body to to relieve tightness and or trigger points of muscles that are more prone to being overactive. It can provide several benefits to people of all ability levels, including re-establishing proper movement, assisting in recovery, and improving both performance and general activities of daily living. It can especially benefit individuals who experience increased muscle spasticity and/or tightness by relaxing those muscle areas and improving tone, range of motion, and ambulation.
