Notes

CHAMP CAMP is a five day summer camp for children ages 6-12 who have been diagnosed with asthma and require daily medication. CHAMP CAMP is operated by the American Lung Association of Georgia. The goal of the camp is to promote self confidence and responsibility in campers while helping them learn to manage their own asthma. Additionally, CHAMP CAMP stresses to campers that in spite of their asthma, they can function as well as other children. CHAMP CAMP specializes in caring for children suffering from respiratory disease and emphasizes the importance of a normal lifestyle. Children are offered the excitement and fun of a traditional summer camp, plus the advantages of an environment and staff responsive to their unique concerns. Campers enjoy a week of fun and adventure while learning self-help skills and developing a better more productive self image. The goals of CHAMP CAMP are simple, increase a camper's sense of independence, build his or her confidence and teach preventive measures to avoid asthmatic episodes. CHAMP CAMP is held annually in the Augusta area. The camp gives children a deeper understanding of nature and allows them to share the joys of an outdoor setting that is comfortable and secure. Campers are encouraged to explore a variety of interests including swimming, sports, nature, and arts and crafts. CHAMP CAMP is an opportunity for children to create memories that will last a lifetime.
