Notes

Stagecoach Trails has the unique ability to offer a completely barrier-free vacation to all travelers with disabilities and their families. There is a real need for this and we want to be the pioneer in offering this unparalleled travel opportunity to you. The uniqueness we are offering our guests over other dude ranches, is that we are completely accessible. The ranch is easily accessible for persons with disabilities, from both the inside and out. All guest rooms, bathrooms, lodge and dining areas were built with the disabled concerns in mind. We took extra care to assure there are no barriers anywhere at our ranch. Our guest rooms and bathrooms are larger than the current accessibility codes call for and our lodge and dining room have plenty of room for wheelchairs to move about freely. We also provide accessible riding equipment so that everyone has the ability to participate in the riding program if they so desire. Our guests with disabilities can choose to experience a ride in the desert or a ride in our arena depending on their ability. All riders will be tested thoroughly before riding to assure safety. It is a proven fact that horses are very therapeutic to people with disabilities. We want to enhance this fact by giving them, along with their families, the opportunity to enjoy not only the horses, but also the great outdoors without any barriers. The swimming pool and hot-tub was also built with wheelchair accessibility in mind. Our go-karts are two-seater so that the non-horseback riding guest can still enjoy the beautiful trails and scenery. We created the ranch so that the accessibility will be subtle, not obvious. We want everyone to come and enjoy the ranch.

Of course, we have a special riding arena for novice riders and any rider with a disability who cannot ride on his/her own on the trails. PLEASE NOTE: No one under the age of 8 or over the weight of 240 pounds will be allowed out on the trails for safety reasons. We have a ramp for wheelchairs so that mounting the horse will be almost as easy as getting in a car. We want everyone to experience riding a horse no matter what their disability is. Our wranglers and our horses are well-trained and have a warm and caring disposition so that each riding experience will be an enjoyable one. If the rider is not capable of going on the trails, we will still give him/her a riding experience they will long remember. They will be allowed to go around the arena in a well supervised environment for extended periods of time-until they get tired of it or an hour is up-which ever comes first! We will do our best to give them a true western experience, as they will still be able to enjoy the great outdoors on top of a horse. (The horse will be haltered and led by a wrangler at all times.) This same riding experience is offered to the children under the age of 8 as well. If an able-bodied rider under the age of 8 proves that he/she has good riding skills, we will allow them to ride in the arena with a bridle and under their own control and occasionally join their parents out on the trail. All horses will be carefully selected for great dispositions to assure the safety of all riders.
