The Challenger Sports League was established in 1997 by a group of local parents and professionals who desired recreational opportunities for children and teenagers with disabilities in Greensboro.
Today, Challenger Sports League continues to provide adaptive sports programs that will foster additional opportunities for mainstreaming children with disabilities as a service of The Arc of Greensboro, Inc. Over 100 children participate in the Challenger Sports League.
Challenger Sports League activities includes Spring Baseball, Fall Baseball, Winter Basketball, and Winter Bowling Leagues. The leagues vary in duration from 4 weeks for Bowling to 7 weeks for Fall Baseball. Participants engage in a 4-7 week season that focuses on the development of physical and social skills associated with each sport activity, while instilling the values associated with teamwork and good sportsmanship.
Challenger Sports League is committed to providing our athletes with the opportunity to participate on a sports team that provides physical, social, and emotional benefits to participants regardless of limitation.
