Located in Ocala, FL, the Marion Therapeutic Riding Association, Inc. provides the opportunity for individuals challenged by physical, mental, and emotional disabilities to take advantage of the extraordinary physical and psychological benefits of horseback riding and driving. The MTRA is a 501-(c)-(3) charitable organization and is accredited by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA).
These programs provide individuals the feeling of freedom and independence. The rhythmic and gentle motion of the horse acts as powerful, unparalleled physical therapy. Improved strength, coordination, flexibility, and balance are documented benefits of therapeutic riding and driving.
In an innovative approach to therapy, MTRA also offers therapeutic driving in addition to therapeutic riding. Wheelchair accessible carriages and accredited therapeutic driving instruction allow individuals who are physical unable to ride the chance to enjoy and benefit from interaction with horses.
