Notes

The Special Troopers Adaptive Riding School, Inc. (S.T.A.R.S.) was incorporated in 1984 in Sioux City, Iowa to provide the experience of therapeutic and recreational horseback riding to persons with disabilities. The purpose of the Special Troopers Adaptive Riding School, Inc. is to provide individuals with disabilities with a horseback riding and driving experience that will contribute to their physical and emotional health. Riders with the S.T.A.R.S. program learn horsemanship skills within a safe and supportive environment. Our big red barn was donated to the program along with the 5 acres it sits on.

Classes are held year round for riders with disabilities, and many volunteers are needed to assist with the riding classes and to help with many other aspects of program operation.
