Camp Adventure - Therapeutic Recreation: An inclusionary camp for children and youth of all abilities to experience the fun of arts and crafts, music and movement, aquatics, tennis, hiking, and other excitement- filled adventures.
Let's Play Together - Inclusion Camp: A summer camp experience for children with special needs to be enrolled into DC Parks and Recreation Discovery and Little Explorers Camp programs. With the assistance of an Inclusion Camp Counselor, children with disabilities will have the opportunity to become mainstreamed into urban camping experience with children without disabilities in an inclusive setting. All will experience a variety of fun filled activities, from swimming, theme park visits, arts and crafts, basketball, trips and so much more.
Camp Funward Bound: New summer opportunities for adults with special needs! Experience high adventure fun such as canoeing, tennis lessons, and hiking. Enjoy a luncheon cruise on the Spirit of Washington.
Feeling Good I: Try different water exercise routines according to your ability and comfort.
Feeling Good II: allows you to exercise at your own pace.
Fins I: Learn basic water exercises routines and play water sport activities designed especially for children. Children with obesity concern are strongly encouraged to enroll.
Fins II: Learn basic water exercises routines and play water sport activities designed especially for youth. Youth with obesity concerns are strongly encouraged to enroll.
Junior Metro Bowling League (JMBL): Inclusionary bowling league program for children and teens with and without special needs. Fun for all. Transportation provided by the DC Center for Therapeutic Recreation to the Capital Plaza Fairlanes. Join our children's league and have fun! Sharpen your bowling skills, get in shape, and meet new friends.
Land Exercise Class (P. A. C. E.): People with Arthritis Can Exercise! Join P. A. C. E., a program developed by the American Arthritis Association, and learn bow to do exercises specifically for people with mobility problems due to arthritis or other bone/joint illness.
Metro TR Bowling: Inclusionary bowling league program for adults with special needs and seniors. Join in the fun!
Leisure Swim: Enjoy swimming and wading at our pace.
Leisure/Life Skills for Persons with Special Needs: The Leisure Life Skills program is an alternative to the traditional day treatment program, serving adults with special needs. The goals of the LLS is to promote socialization, increase cognitive functioning, enhance sense of normalization, enhance skills in activities of daily living, develop and/or increase recreation activity interest and promote freedom in leisure choices. The program provides a variety of activity experiences, such as scrapbooking, simple meal preparation, fitness/exercise, music therapy, dance, swimming, arts/crafts, computer lab activities, drama club, field trips, and field trips. A four-week camping experience called Camp Fun-Ward Bound is part of this package as well as Metro TR Bowling on Tuesdays.
Slow Motion: Take your time! There is no pressure in this slow pace water exercise class that is recommended for people with limited due to strokes, rheumatoid arthritis, hip replacement surgery, and other mobility problems.
Water Boogie: Relax by listening to soothing music while doing low impact water aerobics. This class is for adults with disabilities and uses adapted equipment to strength muscles and increase range of motion.
Water Sports: Increase your range of motion and build endurance through various water exercises in this class recommended by the Arthritis Foundation.
