The organizational intent and mission of Great Strides of Northeast Iowa is to provide the therapeutic benefits of horseback riding to individuals with disabilities in Decorah, Iowa, and surrounding communities in Northeast Iowa and Southeast Minnesota.

Therapeutic riding can benefit persons with cerebral palsy, hemiplegia, autism, Down syndrome, intellectual disabilities, mental illness, multiple sclerosis, stroke and traumatic brain injury. Individuals are advised to obtain their doctor's permission to ride.
