  Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind hosts three summer programs for children and youth who are blind or visually impaired. These summer camps encourage children to develop new skills and expand their horizons.
  
  Some of the summer camp details are as follows:
  
  1.Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind Summer Camp:
  For almost 50 years, CLB has hosted the highly-acclaimed, three-week Camp Lighthouse to help children learn to accommodate their vision loss while still being a kid. The camp, which takes place every year in July, seeks to combine classroom learning with fun and field trips such as horseback riding, swimming, and visits to museums and amusement parks. Camp Lighthouse encourages kids to try new activities and to challenge their ideas of what it is possible for them to achieve.
  
  2.Technology Summer Camps
  CLB, in conjunction with Fairfax County Public Library Access Services, sponsors a technology summer camp for high school students.
  During the three week session, high school students learn a host of computer skills to help make them more competitive at school.
  
  3.Lions/Lighthouse Camp in the Woods:
  CLB and the Lions Clubs of Northern Virginia host a one-week residential camp in the Shenandoah Valley. Teenagers ages 12-19 living within the metropolitan Washington, DC area are eligible to participate. Over the week, students will have a chance to further develop their independent living skills and experience the outdoors. Students will take on cooking and meal planning, skits and campfires, social events and rap sessions, nature hikes and other recreational activities.
