The thirty-sixth consecutive Ohio Wheelchair Games will be held May 18,19 &20, 2006 at RPAC, the Ohio State University’s new 605,000 square foot state-of –the-art Recreation and Physical Activity Center. This year RPAC’s five pool aquatic center, opened in 2005 will set the stage for our swimming events. Tennis competition, new to the games this year, will be held at RPAC Tennis Courts.

Each spring the Ohio Wheelchair Sports Association (OWSA) sponsors the Ohio Wheelchair Games in cooperation with the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Buckeye Chapter, City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, and The Ohio State University.

“This years Ohio Wheelchair Games are being held in part at the new recreation center and natatorium at Ohio State University. These new facilities are replacing the old Larkins Hall and are very light and open. The new pool area is larger with a lot of room on the pool deck for competitors to move around..”, said Bruce Schreiber, Ohio Wheelchair Games Director.

The Ohio Wheelchair Games feature the following events: USTA tennis, archery, field events, NRA Beeman air gun, track, swimming, weightlifting, bowling, table tennis, bocce ball, and billiards. Competition entries are in either the adult division (ages 21 and up) or junior division (ages 7-21). Ohio Wheelchair Games serve as a qualifying event for both the National Wheelchair Games and the WSUSA Junior National Championships held each year by Wheelchair Sports USA.

OWSA welcomes all wheelchair athletes to our games. The entry form is available for download on OWSA’s website.
