Healthy Eating Research: Building Evidence to Prevent Childhood Obesity, a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is designed to build research on environmental and policy strategies with strong potential to promote healthy eating among children, especially among lower-income and racial and ethnic populations at highest risk for obesity. Findings are expected to advance RWJF\'s efforts to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic by 2015.

This Call for Proposals is for three types of awards aimed at providing key decision- and policy-makers with evidence to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic.

Proposals are invited for Round Six grants, rapid-response grants, and RWJF New Connections grants awarded through the Healthy Eating Research program. A total of approximately $2.35 million will be awarded under this Call for Proposals for the three award types.

Preference will be given to those applicants that are either public entities or nonprofit organizations tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Applicant organizations must be based in the United States or its territories. The focus of this program is the United States; studies in other countries will be considered only to the extent that they may directly inform U.S. policy.

Proposals for RWJF New Connections grants awarded through Healthy Eating Research are due March 10, 2011.
