The Center on Health Promotion Research (CHP) has a position opening for a Senior Information Specialist (IS) in Disability and Health Promotion at the National Center on Physical Activity and Disability (www.ncpad.org). The preferred candidate will provide information, technical assistance, training, and develop new resources on the topics of disability, health conditions, physical activity, fitness, health promotion, independent living, accessibility, disability legislation, disability rights/empowerment, adaptive recreation, adaptive sports, and inclusion. The Senior IS will research new developments in the field of disabilities and health conditions in relation to physical activity, exercise and health promotion across lifespan. The Senior IS will develop and presents instructional resources and training materials based on evidence and program based practice. The preferred candidate will respond to consumer, professional and research requests for information on health promotion, physical activity, fitness, research, recreation, sports and disability. Independently author publications related to health promotion, recreation, fitness and disability and seek our grant funding opportunities.

The successful candidate would be responsible for collaborating on national initiatives and with grant partners. This includes developing and presenting instructional resources and training materials at local, regional and national venues related to health promotion and disability.

The candidate must have a minimum of a bachelor�s degree (Master�s degree preferred) in an exercise and rehabilitative related field such as Exercise Physiology, Adapted Physical Education, or Therapeutic Recreation and a minimum of five years experience in a rehabilitative/fitness setting providing direct service delivery, with a minimum of 1 year administrative and managerial experience. The applicant must also have a strong knowledge in disability and physical activity.
