The first annual meeting of the RESNA Standards Committee on Cognitive Technologies (CT) will take place June 8, 2011. Whether or not you can attend this meeting, it is still possible to join this new accessibility standards committee and help make technology easier to use.

What is this project?
There has been impressive accessibility work to make computers, the web, cell phones and other technology usable by people with motor and sensory impairments. Now it is time to address the needs of people with cognitive impairments. This project by the RERC-ACT of the University of Colorado School of Medicine aims to make everyday technology products more usable by people with cognitive impairment resulting from conditions such as Alzheimers, attention disorder, brain injury, cerebral palsy, Downs syndrome, learning disability, Parkinsons disease and stroke. Of course, many people will benefit from better design and more options for customization. Please see this RERC-ACT newsletter article for more information on the project.
