The National AHEC Organization�s 2008 National Conference will be held in Denver, Colorado, June 28-July 1, 2008. More than 700 health education professionals from across the country will journey to Denver for four days to focus on efforts to improve health care in underserved communities. Your participation in this national conference will be an excellent opportunity to share program, product, and service information with key healthcare decision makers from across the nation.

If you've participated in the National AHEC Conference before, you know it's the place to be. If you haven't had this opportunity, you no doubt want to know what the organization is all about.

Created by Congress in 1971, the mission of the Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program is to enhance access to quality health care by improving the supply and distribution of health care professionals through community/academic partnerships. The strength of the program is directly related to the establishment of strong local centers which address the needs of the local communities. Each center provides basic services, including recruitment and retention of health professionals in underserved areas, training of health professions students, and developing health careers opportunity programs for local youth.

AHECs contribute to the health and vitality of underserved communities both rural and urban. At this biannual conference, AHEC personnel have the opportunity to learn about current products and best practices in education, policy development, program administration, leadership training and technology.
