The 7th World Congress on Physical Activity and Aging has been awarded to Tsukuba, Japan and will be held from July 26-29, 2008.

The theme for the 2008 World Congress is "Active Aging: Focus on Longevity and Physical Activity"

The University of Tsukuba, in collaboration with the Japan Ministry of Health and Nutrition; the Foundation of Fitness Promotion and Exercise Guidance, the Japan Health Promotion and Fitness Foundation, the Center of Excellence (COE) in Health and Sport Sciences, and the Tsukuba Advanced Research Alliance (TARA)) are excited at the opportunity to host this important scientific event. Professor Kiyoji Tanaka of the University of Tsukuba will serve as the Chairman of the Congress. A local organizing committee has been formed and is committed to organizing a world class congress that will continue the tradition of providing a forum for the sharing of ideas and information about physical activity and health aging to researchers and scholars from around the world.

The University of Tsukuba and the Ministry of Health and Nutrition in Japan have a long standing commitment to providing outstanding research, education and outreach in the area of healthy aging.
