Access Living of Metropolitan Chicago, a Center for Independent Living, is looking for a full-time Manager - Community Supports. The Manager will be responsible for introducing minimally 100 individuals with disabilities to personal empowerment. Specific duties include:

  • Ensures all grant deliverables for team are met.
  • Ensures direct reports meet job requirements, appropriately handles all disciplinary problems and issues of under performance.
  • Ensures that an annual job performance appraisal is conducted for each supervised staff on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of outcome based management tools.
  • Monitors actual spending to ensure costs are within budget.
Qualified candidates for this position should have a majority of the following qualifications:
  • Experience (personal or professional) working with people with disabilities (as peers);
  • Analytical, problem solving, networking, and knowledge of skill-building techniques;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills as to connect with a wide range of individuals and organizations;
  • An understanding of equal opportunity within a social justice framework;
  • Knowledge of disability civil rights laws (ADA, Section 504, and IDEA), and familiarity with the disability rights movement and/or independent living movement is preferred, but not required.
