The Center on Health Promotion Research for Persons with Disabilities (www.uic-chp.org) in the Department of Disability and Human Development at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a Visiting Disability and Health Promotion Research Specialist. UIC is an AA/EOE.

The Visiting Disability and Health Promotion Research Specialist will be administratively responsible for assisting the Director in implementing a coordinated set of research projects that includes obesity surveillance and secondary data analyses; working with a national expert panel on obesity, nutrition, physical activity and policy guidance related to obesity prevention; and identifying and overseeing successful strategies for implementing a knowledge translation framework that promotes research findings on obesity prevention through a large network of national service provides. The successful candidate will have the skills and knowledge in health promotion needed to assist the director in writing research papers, reports and new grants; assist with the design, maintenance and delivery of a web-based platform for obesity prevention in youth and adults with disabilities; and organize, implement and coordinate communication among staff, researchers and national partners related to research goals and objectives.

Doctorate or postdoc preferred or Masters degree with a specialization in health promotion, exercise science, nursing, public health, or a related field. Strong writing skills required including some record of assisting with preparation of grants, research papers and reports. A minimum of three years experience in health related field or working with adults or children with disabilities. Demonstrated leadership, organizational and communication skills are essential.
