Voice from the Community: Management of Cerebral Palsy through Simple Home Exercises

Joe Austin has lived with a spastic form of cerebral palsy all his life but that doesn't prevent him from being physically active. He has found that even limited involvement in exercise, sports, and recreation is enough to give him greater mobility, independence, and joy. For example, he finds that the use of hand weights increases his strength level and helps him better manage his spasticity. Recreationally, he enjoys an occasional roll in his neighborhood or an area park. He has an avid interest in wheelchair basketball and would like to someday become a coach.
