Nutrition: Tips for Picky Eaters with Autism

The month of April is recognized as National Autism Awareness Month.  Mealtime behaviors and eating problems often occur along with other behavioral and sensory problems for someone who has been diagnosed with autism.  Creative thinking and patience play large roles when it comes to feeding selective eaters.

Research:  Treadmill Walking Exercise and Persons with Multiple Sclerosis

This research review provides an overview of a study that was performed to examine the effects of a treadmill walking program on persons with MS.  Results from the pilot study suggest that treadmill walking might exert the largest beneficial effects of exercise on reaction time (RT) which is a behavior associated with better cognition on central executive tasks in MS.

Public Health: The Healthiest Nation of People with Disabilities in One Generation

The first week in April is an important week in the public health community.  The American Public Health Association uses this week to bring national attention to goals and initiatives to improve the health of our nation.  The theme for National Public Health Week 2016 is Healthiest Nation 2030.  The goal is to create the healthiest nation in one generation – by 2030.
