Active Schools Inclusive Physical Education and Physical Activity Survey Report

Active Schools in collaboration with Lakeshore Foundation – National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability (NCHPAD) issued a Survey of Providing Inclusive Physical Education and Physical Activity and Meeting the Needs of Students with Disabilities to Active Schools’ champions who identified themselves as a PE teacher. The purpose of this needs assessment was to identify current practices and needs to providing inclusive PE among teachers. The survey addressed participation levels, class strategies, after school programs, certifications, support, teacher preparation, and the built environment.  Learn more about the current state of inclusive PE and physical activity while exploring conclusions and recommendations that provide opportunities for improvement by clicking here.


MENTOR Research Study Participants Needed
Are you interested in tuning up and refreshing your life in the areas of mindfulness, exercise, and nutrition?  We are looking for individuals with a spinal cord injury to participate in the MENTOR study.  You may be eligible to participate if you are between the ages of 18 and 60 and have a Spinal Cord Injury.  You may be compensated up to $125 for your time.  Please contact Alex Yates to learn more about the study 205-403-5525 or alexy@lakeshore.org.

National Survey on Health Reform and Disability

The NIDILRR-funded Collaborative on Health Reform and Independent Living (CHIRL) is looking for adults aged 18-62 with disabilities to complete an online survey about getting and using health insurance and health care services.  The survey is collecting information on how the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is affecting lives.
