Notes

CHALLENGED AMERICA is an adaptive-sailing rehabilitation program for kids and adults with disabilities. Sponsored by the Disabled Businesspersons Association.

Challenged America seeks to enhance the life of people with disabilities, and their loved ones, through innovative sailing programs designed to advance their rehabilitation, increase participation and performance in a successful mainstream outcome.

No other therapeutic, recreational rehabilitation activity or sport offers the same or equal (long-term) benefits as sailing does for people with disabilities.

Sailing is both a physically and psychologically demanding endeavor that tests and develops new skills and abilities, builds upon camaraderie and teamwork, enhances social and communication competence and performance, fosters self-esteem and self-confidence, provides and promotes a healthy intensive lifestyle (it's that renewal only found in nature), and encourages the participation and inclusion of loved ones in the rehabilitation process.
