For quadriplegics who use power wheelchairs, another sport has become the fastest growing adapted sport in the U.S. It's power soccer, a game in which an 18-inch soccer ball is driven by players in power wheelchairs with plexiglass sideguards over the end line of a regulation basketball court. In 1995, Sharp took the lead in San Diego and created the High Voltage power soccer team, creating a competitive outlet for people with more severe physical disabilities. Practices are held on Monday evenings at the Linda Vista Recreation Center.
