An important part of Camp Carolina Trails is the education the campers receive. We teach them more about diabetes, its management and self-discipline with respect to diabetes and to life in general. Camp activities and diet are carefully coordinated with the special needs of our campers in mind. Dietitians supervise the total meal program and stress to the campers the importance of a well-balanced diet and its value to good control of their diabetes. Each camper's physician and parent will receive a detailed report of the camp's progress and medical follow-up information. The camp counselors and the teaching staff are supervised by a certified Camp Director. The staff members are competent and skilled in the areas they instruct. Counselors are also well trained to meet the needs of the campers during the daily activities.
