Easter Seals addresses the need for accessible camping with its location near Chestertown, Maryland. Fairlee Manor Recreation and Education Center is a beautiful residential recreational and respite camp on 250 sprawling acres on Fairlee Creek which offers campers from age 6 and up the opportunity to experience the joys and challenges of camp in a fully-accessible setting.
From campfire sing-a-longs to the high ropes course, to swimming and boating, and from nature walks to arts and crafts, Fairlee Manor provides all the excitement and activity available at mainstream summer camp programs.
Among the available camping programs are residential and respite camps.
Fairlee Manor's residential camp generally serves an average of 50 to 75 children and adults each week with physical disabilities and/or cognitive impairments throughout the summer and on select weekends year-round. Sessions offer a wide range of activities including arts and crafts, sports and games, nature walks, swimming, fishing, high/low ropes courses and canoeing. Sessions are divided according to age and ability.
The Respite Weekend program provides outdoor recreation, fun and friendship for children and adults with disabilities in a camp setting. The weekend allows parents and caregivers a short interval of rest and relief from the 24-hour responsibility of direct care or service. Program activities vary by group age and ability, but may include sports and games, nature activities, creative arts, outdoor adventure activities, field trips and more.
Fairlee Manor offers conference and meeting space available for rent. Cabins can also be rented on select weekends.
