Adventure Camp is for youth teens and young adults with moderate disabilities, primarily in association with down syndrome, cerebral palsy, some autism spectrum disorders and genetic syndromes. (Not a match for those whose primary diagnosis is an emotional, behavioural, or psychiatric disorder).Campers develop independence, self esteem and social skills through fun and friendship. Daily adventures including a river raft trip, alpine slide rides, miniature golf, fishing, swimming, hiking/nature walks, wall climbing, singing, and cabin games. Group size is 10 kids, 2 adult staff (one a special education professional or clinical therapist) and 4 teen volunteers (for kids 8-19) who act as peers and role models. Each group stays in a family-style cabin. Teens and young adults are separated by gender at night. Young Adult Camp is for 18-24 year old adults with special needs who are mobile and somewhat independent. Campers enhance social skills and increase independence and confidence through group living and shared mountain activities.
