Camp Superkids is an overnight camp for children ages 7-13 who have moderate to severe asthma. Camp Superkids is staffed round-the-clock by nurses, pharmacists, physicians, and respiratory therapists. An infirmary is located on-site, and additional health care facilities are within easy driving distance of Camp Piomingo, which is located in Otter Creek Park, 20 miles south of Louisville. A variety of supervised activities allows campers to enjoy all the fun and challenges of a regular camp. Some of the activities campers can look forward to includes... swimming,arts & crafts, challenge course with wall climbing and ropes course, archery hiking, Kayaking at Doe Valley Lake with cook-out. Although asthma cannot be cured, with the right medication and education it can be largely controlled. That's why asthma education is an important part of Camp Superkids.Education sessions cover topics such as...Breathing exercises, Recognizing triggers, Relaxation techniques and Proper use of medications.
