Notes

Our Youth New Horizons Camp provides a welcoming Christian camping environment to youth who are developmentally disabled and/or who are mildly, physically disabled. Campers learn they are important creations of God and explore the beauty of God's world.

In order to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, campers must be able to care for their own personal needs (eating, dressing, and restroom use) with minimal assistance and be able to participate in most camp activities.

Activities include swimming at the local pool, canoeing, games, archery, and campfires.

The Directors, Cabin Leaders and Registered Nurse have been selected for their skill and caring for the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of disabled persons. The majority of our staff have had prior camp experience. All summer staff participate in training events prior to the beginning of camp, complete an application, have references checked, and submit to a Washington State Patrol background check. The Site Staff working all summer perform jobs such as kitchen assistants, archery instruction, craft instruction, and waterfront instruction. Camp Burton has year-round personnel including office, maintenance, kitchen, and housekeeping.
