Notes

The Special Motor Fitness Clinic is for children with disabilities aged 4-11. This program is offered for 10 weeks of each academic term by the Department of Exercise and Sport and Science and the Telford YMCA.

Participants in the clinic receive individualized educational programs that emphasize gross motor skill development, physical fitness, and aquatic skills. These individualized physical activity programs are developed for each participant based on initial screening, on-going motor assessment, and consultation with parents. Instruction is provided by qualified clinicians.

Participants will include:
  • Children aged 4-11 years old
  • Children with mild, moderate, and sever disabilities welcome
  • Acceptance is on a first come, first serve basis
Activities will include 2-week rotation of physical and motor fitness skills:
  • Throwing
  • Kicking
  • Catching
  • Volleyball
  • Dance and rhythm
Aquatics will be included with:
  • Certified Lifeguard
  • Flotation Devices such as
  • Aqua-joggers & Swimming noodles
  • One on one supervision will be provided in the aquatics area.
