Notes

Eagle Mount is aware that adolescents who have cancer suddenly find school, sports and other everyday activities disrupted by visits to doctors, hospitals, and the other rigors of cancer treatment. They may feel different and lonely at a time in their lives when peer acceptance is especially important. The distress this disease causes extends to the entire family and their lives are changed.

The Eagle Mount "Big Sky Kids" program for children with cancer, ages 5 to 23, was launched in 1985 to bring some joy back into their lives. Through the program they gain new friends who share common experiences and fears. The outdoor recreation oriented camps offer a positive experience to look forward to, and help restore hope for the future. The objectives of the program are to show support, assure them that others care, and to help them and their families realize that having fun is still part of their lives!

There are a variety of "Big Sky Kids" events during the year: a winter ski weekend for kids and their families, a nine day camp - the Big Sky Adventure - in July, for youth age 10-18 and one parent; Camp Braveheart for youth ages 5-10, and the Young Adult Retreat for ages 16-23.

Big Sky Adventure Camp is a nine day, all expense paid vacation for a young cancer patient, age 10 through 18, and one parent. Montana's Big Sky and Yellowstone Park areas offer scenery, fishing, hiking, rafting, camping and many other forms of outdoor recreation. Have you ever wanted to ride a horse like the pioneers of old, raft the last of the great undammed rivers in the United States, take a tour of America's oldest national park, visit the home of one of the nations most famous western artists, see a grizzly bear up close, watch a wild and woolly vaudeville play, camp out by a wild mountain stream, and best of all sample some of the finest food available without doing the dishes?

If this sounds like something you would enjoy, the Big Sky Adventure is for you!

Once you become a member of the Big Sky Kids family, there are many activities throughout the year. A family ski weekend is held in March providing a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and sample some of the finest ski terrain in Montana. The Big Sky Inc. ski area, is a world class resort allowing one to ski the most vertical feet in North America with the Big Sky Kids.

Our Teen Retreat offers a yearly getaway for teens only, so leave the folks at home (but bring your dancing shoes). We are always coming up with new adventures and family reunions to serve our growing family of Big Sky Kids.

Eagle Mount provides the Big Sky Adventure at no cost to the participants, and family weekends with only occasional minor expense. This is possible through the support and donations of numerous businesses, organizations and individuals.
