Camp Voyager is an innovative program designed to give boys and girls, ages 10-14, the chance to explore the great outdoors and experience the thrill of a unique adventure. Best described as an interactive camp of the future, Camp Voyager brings together the best of traditional camping programs with the latest technology and an exploration theme.
Campers will work as a team to progress through their adventure by using technology such as Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), desktop computers and applicable software, as well as building and operating simple machines like water pumps and solar power-operated devices. Campers will also capture video and pictures with digital cameras and camcorders to be edited and arranged on state-of-the-art computers. It will be very similar to the concept shared by many popular video games today, where the player acquires resources and learns how to use them in order to progress and accomplish the mission.
