Notes

The Adaptive equestrian Riding for Therapy ("AeRT") program is the newest therapeutic riding program in San Diego County. We saw a definite need for this program are excited to be able to help the ever-growing list of people who want to be able to benefit from equestrian therapy. We differ from other therapeutic riding programs in many ways.

First, we do not tailor our program to only a few types of disabilities; we want to serve the whole community of persons with disabilities, including physical, emotional, and behavioral disabilities. We provide therapeutic riding to help anyone who needs it, including people with eating disorders, victims of domestic violence, and children soon to be adopted (to let them get to know their new parents).

Another unique aspect of AeRT is that we want to meet the needs of the whole family, not just the person with the disability. Often times, when there is more than one child in the family, and one of them has a disability, the other children feel left out, and less loved by their parents. We invite the brothers and sisters of that child to participate in special riding, grooming, and barn management lessons under a program called Tiffany's Time.
