Notes

Hearts and Hooves, started in 1999 through the Cleveland County Humane Society (CCHS), provides a unique therapeutic horseback riding program to over 45 students with disabilities in North Shelby, NC. Hearts and Hooves is registered with the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA), and operators are working toward national accreditation.

Hearts and Hooves horses are not just tools for therapy, they are active participants in a relationship. Mutually beneficial avenues for physical and emotional healing for people as well as horses can happen anywhere where animals are valued. Therefore, their therapeutic riding program offers many physical and emotional benefits for the students as well as for the horses.
