Notes

  • Family Training – Play with a purpose.
In the "Early-On" program parents and caregivers of infants and toddlers learn teaching and therapy techniques that they can use daily while caring for and playing with their children. These techniques help parents recognize and promote the small steps that lead to the traditional "developmental milestones." Since parents and/or caregivers are with their children all or most of the day, opportunities for "play with a purpose" abound. The more involved parents become in the process, the more confident they feel about their children’s progress. Parents and children benefit from additional opportunities to bond and interact.
  • Preschool Program – Fun, creative and interactive.
Our "Play, Do and Learn" preschool classes provide a stimulating environment that seeks to meet the development needs of each child enrolled. This program is open to any child aged 18 to 36 months, with or without special needs. Children are given the opportunity for independence, interaction with their peers, and therapy support in a safe and loving environment. Low student-to-teacher ratios ensure that each child receives individual attention and care from our highly qualified staff.
  • Individual Therapies – Hands-on skill building.
Special Kids and Families offers physical, occupational, and speech/oral-motor therapies on an individual basis to those children and families who need extra support. Special instruction to assist with cognitive and general development is provided by early intervention staff.
  • Transition/Advocacy Training – Relationship empowerment.
As children approach school age, whole new opportunities (and obstacles) open up. Our parent support group provides advocacy and information on resources to help prepare families for the transition from early intervention to public or private school.
  • Community Services – Getting the message across.
In addition to our programs, we provide service to the entire community in other ways: a lending library of books, therapeutic toys and equipment; referrals to other services; parent-to-parent contact. Community Awareness efforts; training for daycare providers; and a Speakers Bureau.
