Notes

Camp Lotsafun provides individuals with developmental disabilities an opportunity to experience the adventure of camp while working towards specific developmental achievements. As campers are making new friends and enjoying the activities at camp, they are achieving goals of improving physical health, developing social skills, and increasing independence. Placing each camper in a peer group that is congruent with their developmental and social skill level will encourage social interaction and increase the likelihood of developing meaningful friendships with peers, a skill that many of our campers lack.

Our target population is composed of individuals with developmental and neurological disabilities, such as: Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Fragile X, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Bi-Polar, Downs Syndrome and related disorders.

Camp Lotsafun provides all of the traditional camp activities such as: campfires, swimming, archery, basketball, arts & crafts, outdoor education, hiking and canoeing. In addition, we provide activities to improve physical health, develop social skills, and encourage independence, such as: ropes challenge course, pet therapy, hot air balloon ride, music, drama, and talent show.

Campers develop new skills and interests to share with friends and family at home. The responsibility of living in a group of peers, managing self-care, learning new activities, experiencing new environments, and making new friends is an experience that is unique to the camp environment.

A typical day at camp is composed of a balanced schedule of therapeutic, recreational, and educational activities. Each activity has a physical, social, sensory, and/or self-care component.
