Notes

One of Missouri's three residential camps offer a camping experience specifically oriented to the child with diabetes.
The primary purpose of Camp Hickory Hill is to educate people (especially children) with diabetes about the illness and its care.

Nearly 2,000 children in Missouri have Diabetes. How well these children care for the illness helps determine the quality and length of their lives. Unfortunately, some never receive the training necessary for managing their diabetes effectively, due to expense or lack of availability of educational facilities.

The educational program that Camp Hickory Hill offers takes place in a recreational setting that facilitates enjoyable camping experiences while reinforcing good diabetes care and control.

Our facility and program also provide opportunities for dietetic, nursing, and medical students to receive additional training concerning diabetes and its management.

We have a variety of activities to that keep each day filled with fun and excitement. Activities include: Archery, arts and crafts, astronomy, boating, campfires, overnight camp outs, cave exploring, fishing, hiking, nature study, monocable (zipline), mud pit competition, ping pong, rappelling, riflery, skits, stories and songs, sports and swimming in our pool.
