Unicorn Handicapped Riding Association was founded in March 1988 as a New Jersey non-profit organization dedicated to providing equestrian therapy to individuals with special needs. The children served by Unicorn have disabilities including:

  • Down Syndrome
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Autism
  • Emotional Disturbances
  • ADD
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • hearing and visual impairments
Students come from a wide geographical area including Camden, Burlington and Gloucester Counties, New Jersey. Although a majority of students are registered directly by their families, Unicorn also serves schools, camps, and group homes. Included are Bancroft School, Association for Retarded Citizens, Camden and Burlington Day Training Schools, Handi-Camp, New Lisbon Developmental Center, and PILOT Services. Unicorn's program is accredited by North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA). At the present time, Unicorn serves more than 100 students through the efforts of five (5) certified instructors and more than forty (40) volunteers.
