Notes

At Girl Scout Kamp Kiwani, girls learn to live, work, and have fun while developing cooperative living skills. Girls of similar ages live together in a unit with counselors. In addition to all camp and unit activities, girls have t ime to select camptivities that interest them. Girls meet a broad range of campers and staff while progressing according to their interests and skills.

Girl Scout Kamp Kiwani is a perfect combination of creative, challenging activities, rustic architecture, peaceful wooded rolling hills and a beautiful spring- fed lake that provides a treasure of memories.

Our camp is open to girls with special needs. Let us work with you to meet your camperʼs needs. Call the Girl Scout Service Center and together we can determine how best to serve your daughter.

Come to Girl Scout Kamp Kiwani for days and nights of fun away from home. Girls find courage by exploring new adventures, confidence by discovering their abilities, character by shaping their values, and connections by friendships with other girls. During the sessions, campers will spend time doing things with girls their age in their unit, as well as participating in all-camp activities. They will be able to experience the Gullies, campfires, cookouts, nightly star gazing, night hikes and many other camp activities.

The best part is campers customize their camp experience by selecting from a list of camptivities. Girls will be able to stay with their buddies or venture out with new friends as they choose. The following list is just a sampling of what camptivities will be offered:
  • Archery
The "aim" of this camptivity is to learn about the exciting sport of archery. Be ready to aim and shoot your way to becoming a skilled archer.

  • Arts and Crafts
Explore fun art forms such as painting, jewelry making , tie-dying, candle making, and nature crafts while expressing your own creativity.

  • Boating
Spend time learning the ways of the water in canoes, sailboats and kayaks!

  • Dance
Enjoy moving to the beat? Join the fun as we explore different types of dance and movement. Itʼs a dancing craze of rhythm, music and fun .

  • Outdoor Living Skills
Learn how to make a shelter with natural materials and practice outdoor cooking. Make your own tasty treats. You will also learn to read a topographical map and use a compass.

  • Sports & Fitness
Learn new skills or sharpen those you already have as you participate in this camptivity. Possibilities include nature hikes, volleyball, soccer and badminton, just to name a few.

  • Swimming
Have fun swimming and splashing in Lake Okalowa with your new friends. You will experience aquatic games, water aerobics, and even improve your swimming ability.

  • Weird Science
Be a scientist and create slime, play with bubbles, or take a nature hike and learn about bizarre plants and animals living at Kamp Kiwani. Youʼll learn about other strange and unique science tricks, too.

  • Horses
During the weeks that our horses are not being used by the teens attending the Sandy Springs Ranch Unit session, we are able to offer some shorter equestrienne camptivities. If you really like horses, youʼll love the horse camptivities. Ride, groom, and learn all about horses. Select the camptivity that best suits your experience and interest.
    • Bridle N' Blanket
This is for first time equestriennes or those with little experience around horses. Develop your horsemanship knowledge. Practice riding in the ring. (1-2 trips to the stable)
    • Hoofbeats
This class is for campers who are more experienced and comfortable around horses. This camptivity increases your riding skills and knowledge of horse and tack care. In this camptivity you work in the ring and take a trail ride. (3-4 trips to the stable)
