Notes

The Fitness Center was designed to provide support to all rehabilitation programs throughout the hospital. After all, building strength and endurance is key to any patient's recovery. At the Fitness Center, our therapists encourage patients to develop new lifestyle habits that include exercise. After recovering from a devastating injury or illness, its important that patients maintain, and continue to improve, their physical condition.

The Fitness Center provides individual or group exercise programs for people with similar disabilities. The Centers physical therapist and exercise physiologists customize fitness programs that include the use of:

  • A 25-yard, three-and-a-half-foot-deep indoor pool maintained at 85 degrees (individual and group swimming classes are available)
  • Cardiovascular exercise equipment (treadmill, stationary bikes, stair-climbing machines, rowing machine, and outdoor walking/jogging track)
  • Weight training
  • Fitness classes (stretching and sculpting, yoga, step, and aerobics)
  • Volleyball and basketball classes
Fitness is such an important of part of good health. As part of our commitment to improving the health and wellness of our community, Memorial campus has opened the Fitness Center to community membership for children, adults and seniors. Local residents may enjoy the benefits of a gym with the comfort of knowing skilled professionals are on hand to provide instruction as well as clinical support, if needed.

We also offer personal training as well as special classes for kids including basketball camp and a youth swim team. Plus, the Center is an important part of our Worker's Compensation Program. The program encourages work-injury patients to keep active and to help reduce the possibility of re-injury.
