Our world-renowned Adaptive Sailing Program was the first in the USA and has been used as a model program throughout the United States.
From the fully accessible facility at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island, 5 custom designed Freedom 20's and Sonar's are available to people with physical and developmental disabilities for recreational. instructional and competitive sailing. Certified instructors operate the program from June through September.
This unique opportunity enables individuals and groups to enjoy the "America's Cup waters" of Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay.
Shake-A-Leg conducts daily instructional, recreational and competitive sailing programs for individuals and groups for all disabilities. The highlights of the season include the competitive Millennium Regatta, and the Northeast Regional competition for the Independence Cup.
Sailing lessons or recreational sailing sessions are 2 hours.
Each boat safely accommodates a maximum of 4 people and 1 instructor.
