General Description
76 miles of the Niobrara River in north-central Nebraksa are preserved as a national scenic river and managed by the National Park Service. Many species of birds and mammals make their home here (bald eagles, great blue herons, elk, bison, deer, beaver, mink, etc.); over 230 waterfalls (tallest is Smith falls 63\\'') are found along the river valley and cliff\\''s and rapids make up this unique and nationally significant river of the Great Plains.
