Description
  • Since 1976, the City of Westland has offered adapted and therapeutic programs for individuals with special needs. These programs are designed for people with a variety of disabilities including cognitive impairments, autism spectrum disorders, emotional impairments, and physical challenges including spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury and more. It is the goal of the Westland Therapeutic Recreation Program to provide a wide variety of recreation and leisure activities for people with special needs. This program was awarded the Michigan Parks and Recreation Association Excellence in Therapeutic Recreation Program Award in 1998 & 2006.
