Description
The Georgia Academy for the Blind provides statewide leadership, summer camps, educational programming, and outreach services for children and youth who are blind, visually impaired, and for those who have multiple disabilities. The campus program offers a safe and stimulating learning environment. Outreach services are provided through on-campus evaluations including psychological, educational, orientation and mobility, low vision, and assistive technology. Outreach services provide follow-up to help students and teachers with the use of low vision and assistive technology devices in the students customary environment. Training opportunities are provided for Georgias teachers for the visually impaired both on and off campus. The GAB is home to other programs serving the entire state. The Department of Education State Vision Consultant, The Georgia Instructional Materials Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and the Georgia Pines services for infants and toddlers ages birth through three years, who are blind, visually impaired, and multiply disabled are all located on the GAB campus.
