Description

• The Wallbangers Wheelchair Athletic Organization was founded in 1972 by a group of individuals with disabilities at UND and surrounding areas. Its purpose is to provide recreation and competitive physical activities for people. In addition to wheelchair sports and recreation activities include softball, track & field, paraquatics and snow skiing.

  The Wallbangers joined the National Wheelchair Basketball Association in 1979 as a member of the North Central Conference. In competitive conference play, players must be classified according to degree of disability to be eligible to play. Anyone is encouraged to practice with the team, regardless of disability. The Wallbangers participate in exhibition wheelchair basketball games to raise awareness of the sport.
