Description
  • Their mission is to help individuals of all ages and degrees of blindness to live as independently as possible within their own communities. Headquartered in Brooklyn, the agency has two additional rehabilitation sites on Long Island.

Basic rehabilitation services, such as training in safe travel and daily living skills, are provided to approximately 2,000 clients in the New York metropolitan area each year. In addition, they annually screen close to 25,000 youngsters for eye disorders that will lead to permanent visual impairment if not detected and treated early in a child's life. They have a variety of programs for both children and adults.
