Description
  • The Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to expand the potential of people with disabilities and special needs through meaningful, educational, and inspiring outdoor experiences. The BOEC began back in 1976 with a staff that consisted of volunteers only, gear that came from their closets, and food that was donated or provided by the clients. The BOEC has come a long way since then. Most recently honored as a finalist in Colorado's 2003 El Pomar Foundation Award for Excellence program, the BOEC offers Adaptive Skiing and Snowboarding, Wilderness Courses (on-site as well as mobile courses), Professional Challenge Courses, and a unique Internship Program. Situated on 39 acres, the BOEC boasts a climbing wall, a high ropes course, high and low team initiatives, rafts, canoes, sea kayaks, cabins, teepees, and much more, as resources for experiential education.

"The BOEC is: companionship and compassion, pride and perseverance, self-earned successes and group-driven accomplishments. Tears from trying, and succeeding. Untapped courage. Comfortable laughter. Learned empathy and practiced patience. Acceptance. Belonging. Feeling safe and being independent. A change of scenery, a sense of renewal."

At the BOEC, we provide the necessary ingredients for a successful experience in the wilderness, on the ski slopes or in one of our many outdoor classrooms. Take a look at our programs here and call us to discuss your goals. We will design a program for your group or enroll you in one of our pre-existing programs or youth camps.
